”I couldn’t and wouldn’t be alive without him.”
Joshua’s Story: Where do I start…. I’ve suffered from and eating disorder (anorexia) for 10 years. It went through awful stages, okay stages and absolutely horrific stages. In September last year I went into my last hospital. I had not eaten for 4 days and not drunk for 3 days. My maximum caloric intake before that was 300 calories and that was only if I’d cycled or ran 2-3 hours per day. During my recovery I was encouraged to go to the gym and build muscle around my lower back as I have osteoporosis. I met this man Mark. I have a very open personality and I’m a very forward person. I spoke to him and asked him to train me. He gave me his number and I trained with him the next week. I told him everything I’d been through and some. He had not one ounce of judgement – just care and a real urge to understand. He made me confident in myself.
Anorexia comes with depression. When you’re depressed you don’t wash you don’t want to eat, sleep or have fun. After training 1 day a week it turned into 3, then 7. This was because Mark finally did for me what professionals have tried to do for years. He got me eating. He gave me confidence. Everyday if I messaged him about how nervous I was about eating, he would message me instantly and reassure me. All of sudden I had this different mindset that I wanted to be big, strong and one day compete in bodybuilding. Mark literally told me this: “You can do anything you want and I can get you to that point, the hard part for you will be to eat the calories and keep your mind in a good place.” All of a sudden someone believed in me. This man has saved my life. He has made me have a life I never thought I’d have. He made things simple. He never told me I was right when I was wrong and never told me I was wrong when I was right. You have to realise how amazing this man is to myself and my family. My mum holds this man in such high regards as what he has done and continues to do for me is above and beyond what anyone has ever done for me. He’s taught me discipline. How to rest. How to deal with uncomfortable situations. Most importantly how to trust someone again. This man is not just a personal trainer to me. He’s my friend. My best friend. A second dad. I look up to him and love him like family.
People ask why I have a personal trainer. These pictures prove what this man can do for a person like myself who was dying. I wake up everyday now excited about my future in this sport and to train with my best friend. He still puts up with all my other problems. I suffer from severe OCD and I have high functioning autism (Asperger’s) and ADHD this means my moods can fluctuate through out a day or even a workout. I don’ feel an ounce of judgement from this man and that makes training and my future so exciting. From the bottom of my heart I can only think this man. He’s a credit to himself and his profession. I couldn’t and wouldn’t be alive without him. We’re only just beginning this journey.

Lee’s Story: I started training with Mark early in 2019 after he gave me my induction for my new gym membership. Impressed by Mark’s knowledge, experience and supportive attitude, I decided to train with him more regularly and, to be honest, have never looked back. Over the 10 months since I first met and started training with Mark, I have lost weight, gained muscle mass, been less stressed and become fitter, in fact, I am probably the fittest I’ve been in my adult life.
Throughout the entire time Mark has been encouraging and supportive. He has gone above and beyond what would be expected of him. This was extremely evident when I recently injured both rotator cuff joints whilst training on my own. Mark came to my osteopathy appointment with me and rehab training in order that he could best understand the injuries and how he could adapt my routines and exercises to allow me to recover and how to protect the joint in future.
All in all, my first meeting with Mark was a positive experience and this has grown into positive relationship. The result of which is a healthier, better me. I can’t thank him enough for his help!

Don’s Story: When I first started training with Mark it was on advice from my doctor. I did not think I would be able to last more then 1 month or even a few weeks. There were moments when I felt like giving up and quitting as the training I was doing was different to anything I’d done before. I was not used to being in a gym. I also found my new diet very hard to adjust to as I was so used to eating what I wanted when ever I wanted. However, after training for some time I started to notice huge changes in my body and wellbeing that helped me to build my confidence and gave me determination to actually go to the gym and give it 100% all the time.
I then began training with mark 4-5 times a week, while always listening to his techniques and nutritional plans which all helped me to lean down and build muscle. I was amazed at how strong my body was and what it was capable of. After struggling in the first few months I gradually got better and now fitness is a massive part of my life. My weight loss and muscle gain has impressed my friends and family and given me so much confidence. If it was not for Mark’s support I would not have been able to see the strength and confidence I had in myself as well as all the new workouts and techniques that are still helping me to this day in which I am still improving my physique. I love waking up every day to the healthier me!

Every session he tailors the exercises to help me meet my goals, and he also wrote me a personalised diet plan to help with my nutrition. I used to find going to the gym really boring but with Mark it is so much more fun and he really helps you to feel comfortable using the equipment and pushing yourself to meet your goals. I’ve managed to drop at least one jeans size and I’m much stronger and fitter than I’ve ever been before – he really has changed my life for the better.
